We are excited for the release of our new Estate Sangiovese. It was grown in a new vineyard next to our winery on the eastern side of the Santa Clara Valley just east of Gilroy and is carefully tended by George and Lynda Green. They meticulously farm their vineyard to maximize quality. The 2020 growing season was outstanding the Santa Clara Valley allowing for a medium crop with long hang time on the vine, giving intense and complex flavors. Spicy berry and dark cherry bring out the smoky, spicy oak notes in the aroma, followed by full bodied tannins and lush blackberry and rhubarb flavors. This wine pairs beautifully with any Italian dish especially pastas or your favorite pizza.
2021 Estate Syrah
We are excited for the release of our new Estate Syrah. It was grown in a new vineyard next to our winery on the eastern side of the Santa Clara Valley just east of Gilroy and is carefully tended by George and Lynda Green. They meticulously farm this vineyard to maximize quality. The 2021 growing season was outstanding the Santa Clara Valley. It was slightly early, cooler and lower in crop allowing long hang time on the vine, giving intense and complex flavors. Lots of savory cherry fruits and vanilla greet your nose in this medium bodied Syrah. Notes of smokey marshmallow, bacon and black pepper round out the aromas as the soft, yet lush tannins greet your mouth. This wine is great for picnics and BBQ’s.
2020 Estate Malbec
This impressive Malbec was grown in a new vineyard on the eastern side of the Santa Clara Valley just east of Gilroy and is carefully tended by George and Lynda Green. They meticulously farm this vineyard to maximize quality. The 2020 growing season was outstanding the Santa Clara Valley allowing for a medium crop with long hang time on the vine, giving intense and complex flavors. Blackberry jam and leather lead off the aromas followed by sweet tobacco and cherries. Big juicy tannins in the mouth combined with good acidity, anise and cranberry flavors make this perfect to have with a 1.5” thick Ribeye Steak.
2022 Estate Cabernet Franc
This is our eighth release of our Cabernet Franc was grown in a new vineyard on the eastern side of the Santa Clara Valley just east of Gilroy and is carefully tended by George and Lynda Green. They meticulously farm this vineyard to maximize quality. The 2022 growing season was challenging starting with a two week plus heat wave with temperatures above 110 F. That was followed by weeks of below normal temperatures giving the vines a chance to recover.
Cherry fruit leather and plum fruit aromas are framed by toasty marshmallow oak notes. In the mouth there are juicy medium tannins followed by plum, rhubarb and herbal notes. This wine is made for a pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon.
Verde Estate Vineyard
This amazing vineyard was planted in 2010 and is located at the foothills of the southern Diablo Range. It produces grapes of incomparable depth and flavor. The grapes were hand-picked at the peak of flavor and crushed within hours of harvest to ensure the flavor was maintained.
2020 Bella’s Estate Reserve Merlot
We are excited for the release of our new Reserve Merlot. It was grown in a new vineyard next to our winery on the eastern side of the Santa Clara Valley just east of Gilroy and is carefully tended by George and Lynda Green. They meticulously farm this vineyard to maximize quality. The 2020 growing season was outstanding the Santa Clara Valley allowing for a medium crop with long hang time on the vine, giving intense and complex flavors. Concentrated and crisp, fresh blueberry, currant and cocao is the first aroma you smell, complimented by vanilla, graham cracker, bramble and toasty oak nuances. The mouthfeel is substantial, but silky at the same time with lots of dark fruit and oak flavors in the long finish. Pair with braised lamb shank.
2018 Tess’ Blend
This impressive Bordeaux Blend was grown in a new vineyard on the eastern side of the Santa Clara Valley just east of Gilroy and is carefully tended by George and Lynda Green. They meticulously farm this vineyard to maximize quality. The 2018 growing season was amazing, the best of the decade. Our Tess’ Blend is made to represent the best the Verde Vineyard has to offer and is made to drink now, but will last years in your cellar.
This elegant and luscious wine starts with lots of blueberry and currant fruit followed by savory oak and leather from the vineyards. Let it sit in your glass and the secondary aromas of cedar, ripe cherry and orange peel show up. Those flavors carry over into the mouth where firm, yet silky, full mouth tannins take over. The finish lingers on the pallet with blackberry and tar that lasts forever.
This wine drinks well now, but is made to age for years to come. Pair with a grilled ribeye steak or filet mignon.
2018 Estate Merlot
We are excited for the release of our 2018 Estate Merlot. It was grown in a new vineyard next to our winery on the eastern side of the Santa Clara Valley just east of Gilroy and is carefully tended by George and Lynda Green. They meticulously farm this vineyard to maximize quality. The 2018 growing season was outstanding the Santa Clara Valley allowing for a large crop with long hang time on the vine, giving intense and complex flavors. This wine is big and brooding with dark berry and tar aromas upon opening which has evolved with time to syrupy blueberry, dried herbs, roasted coffee and vanilla. These flavors carry over to the mouth along the firm tannins of this big vintage. Don’t hesitate and have this wine with some smoked tri-tip or a piece of your favorite chocolate.
